From 24 to 26 June 2025, more than 100 energy professionals from across Europe gathered at emsys VPP GmbH in Oldenburg for the annual Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Customer Days, hosted together with energy & meteo systems GmbH.
The conference began with Eike Arndt’s session “emsys’ Global Footprint – Products, Markets & Use-Cases”, followed by Ulrich Focken, Managing Director of emsys VPP, who presented the VPP Roadmap and its upcoming developments. A strong focus was also placed on IT security, with Manuel Karlin, CISO, outlining the latest measures to safeguard platforms and operations.
Among the international contributions, Optimus Energy represented by Gerasimos Takis-Defteraios, Head of Trading at Optimus Energy. His session highlighted the challenges and practices from the rapidly evolving Greek market, bringing valuable insights on flexibility and curtailment management. In his presentation, our Gerasimos Takis-Defteraios showcased the journey of Optimus Energy’s renewable portfolio as it evolves into a dynamic and flexible asset, ready to meet the challenges of the modern energy market. Eesti Energia complemented the international perspective with a presentation on balancing markets in the Baltics and cross-border aggregation opportunities.

Events like VPP Customer Days underline the importance of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange in building flexible, secure, and sustainable power systems.
